How does everyone remember what type of wood your strikers are made from. I have some that are several years old and have no idea what wood there made of. Some of the newer ones are kind of fancy and I almost don't want to write on them

Post pics of the ones you are unsure of, I'm sure we can help you out.

x2 on the help.

I know some guys write on a piece of paper, then wrap it around and secure with a piece of scotch tape to the striker. Harold Fowler would do this with a laminated piece of paper instead of just covering it up with scotch tape on the strikers he sold, and where many get the idea I believe.

I try to post pictures of all the calls I get and the strikers that come with them on Facebook, I do this so I can remember and if one of my friends see one they like I can quickly get them in touch with the maker. Problem is I did not do it at first so I do not have the name of previous strikers. It also helps me remember what striker came with what call. https://www.facebook.com/steven.sanmarco/media_set?set=a.10211716339046456&type=3

The ones I think I will not remember , I use a fine tip perm. Marker and write on them. Many I just can look at and tell. When you have a couple hundred it can get confusing at times.

Now, there's the challenge...I have a box of strikers. A fairly large box. For the most part, I have no idea what striker goes with what pot.
Every year I have to go through them and rematch them.
I do have a few strikers that sound good on pretty much anything so I always carry them.
I have a bunch of strikers that are pretty much worthless but can't bring myself to throw them away since, at some juncture, down the line, they may match something I buy. In the mean time, I have a box of worthless strikers, that I know I'll never use.
Anybody want a box of worthless strikers?   ;D

I keep a log book of all my calls , with history , price and just general information .... I label my strikers , if they don't have the marking of type ... i list them in my book as far as maker ....

Well, I have a box of strikers and only know the name of the wood for a few. I do practice a lot prior to the season and match them up by sound. As I only carry two pots when hunting I select the best four strikers for each pot I am carrying and place them in a rug. The rug is important so that they do not get lost, wet or damaged.

I take a picture of them and put it in my notes on phone and type left to right what they are
