Recoil is definitely subjective. I shoot 3” Nitros from my Wingmaster and there is no recoil pad of any kind on the wood stock.

Yes, but the 835 has gotten a bad rap as far as recoil due mostly because of the horrible stock drop and cast.  It almost causes cheek slap and a more intense recoil response. These things are EASILY remedied however with minimal work or money out of pocket.
