Best pump gun

What's the best pump gun currently made? Meaning which one is least likely to give me problems. I am having a bad run with 870's, the new ones are definitely junk.

Both the Benelli Nova and Winchester SXP currently have my eye, but the BPS isn't bad either

This is more personal preference than anything. Are you looking for a dedicated turkey gun or a do all gun? I suggest you handle the guns your interested in and see witch one you like the best and go with that. With today's chokes, ammo and sighting options you can make any of them pattern well enough to kill turkey's at the distance that we should be shooting them at. Just my 2 cents and that's probably more than it's worth.

10gaugemag

I am a BPS fan. Had 870s and nothing wrong with the ones I had. Did have a 20 gauge Nova, wasn't a fan.

Had a 12 gauge BPS, a 28 gauge BPS and still have my 10 gauge BPS. They are a bit heavier than most pumps but function has always been flawless for me. Safety is in a nice location up top too.

If I were to buy another pump it would be a Browning. Nothing wrong with most of the other pumps out there today but the BPS gets the nod from me.

870 Wingmaster imo best pump ever  made.
Not the same gun as the 870 Express you get what you pay for
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

Blessed are the peacemakers for they are the children of God.

Probably more turkeys killed with 870s and Mossberg 835s than practically everything else combined. I wouldn`t hesitate to buy a new Wingmaster or an 870 Super Mag. That`s based on my personal Remington experiences.

870 hands down. In my experience they are just of a higher quality that a mossy 500

I own an 870 Wingmaster, 870 Express, BPS, Benelli SuperNova, Mossberg 500 and Mossberg 835. Never have owned but have shot Ithaca's and Winchester's. My opinion, best design and workmanship: Benelli SuperNova (but "thick" and clunky looking). BPS is a close second. A little heavy though. Most consistent and even patterns: Mossberg 835. All have killed turkeys.  One I use most often for turkeys: Mossberg 835

870 hands down , never had a problem with them new or old ones ...

I've had nothing but problems with the newer 870's, so they are not in the running

I like the Browning BPS but they are too heavy for me to carry running and gunning.

To get a dedicated turkey slayer a Mossberg is the way to go. 535s/835s are a dream to carry not to mention 20" barrels, tactical stocks, and all are drilled and tapped for scopes...my two cents

Okkk .. you have had problems , so what problems have you had ?  What Brand 870 ?

Terry

I had a supermag that just stopped ejecting shells and then fell apart when I took the barrel off. Now I have a compact 20 and the action bars jump the grooves in the receiver. I admit that they are both express, but I don't see a wingmaster that is geared towards turkey

Lots of people still hunt with the old wingmaster for turkeys ... sorry that you have had the problem with the 870 .. but i will say more people hunt with them, than any other pump gun to this day with no problems ...

The same outfit that took over Marlin and trashed the quality of their rifles also bought out Remington.

For a good 870 I would look on Gunbroker for one from before Remington sold out.
