Mystery Pot Call - Pictures Added
« on: May 03, 2019, 08:06:12 AM »
I know this isn't the sound file section, but I wanted to give an honest review of a pot call I received, and I wanted to post a soundfile and a couple pictures.

I received this pot call back before the WV season started and I put it through its paces.  This pot call can get loud, but it also has a great soft side as well.  I can kee kee with the pot which to me is one of many defining qualities of a good pot.  Heres the thing about this particular call though.  Its not made of wood.  The striking surface is one of the newer surfaces that is on the market currently and the soundboard is found in lots of calls currently being made. This call was made by a call maker who entered a few calls in the NWTF grand national call making competition back in February.  He makes a great call and is constantly striving to make them better.

Ill post the sound file and in a few days Ill post pictures of what the call is.  I recorded this while high on a hardwoods ridge on public land just a couple weeks ago.  Shortly after I recorded it I got a gobbler to answer and he was coming in, but I also had attracted the attention of a coyote as well and needless to say the turkey disappeared.

Glad that you guys liked the sound of this pot call.  Im adding a couple of pictures here to reveal what the call was that I made the soundfile with.

The call is an Alloy Calls Cutover Queen.  The striking surface is Green Slate with an aluminum surface.  The pot itself is machined anodized aluminum. The striker I used in the soundclip was a Stuckey Tulipwood but it rocks with Ipe, Purpleheart, dymondwood, and Mac Ebony.

Please do yourself a favor and if your looking for a great call, then give Josh McDowell a call or checkout his website.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field
