The easiest call to "master", if that is what you really mean, not just "good enough to kill a turkey", is going to be the call you most enjoy running.

To replicate the sound and cadence of a hen yelp, I believe a GOOD box call is the easiest. Properly weighted & tuned, it practically plays itself.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Pot call, Slate specifically. That said when using slate in the woods it’s very finicky, need near perfect weather to get decent sounds consistently. As far as just using one to practice at home it doesn’t get any better
