I've had two barrels ported on dedicated turkey guns and they are definitely louder. On a duck gun I agree a ported barrel is a no no, turkey gun not so much.
My current BPS build won't be ported as it's going to be a dual purpose wet weather gun. Mainly a turkey gun but it'll see occasional water fowl use.

That won't reduce recoil enough for you to even notice a difference, maybe 2 to 3 pct if you're lucky.

A lot of the felt recoil is actually cheek slap. About 15 years ago I filled the stock with sand and about 5 years ago i put a homemade foam cheek piece on. It cut noticable recoil considerably.
