Permethrin doesn't stop the 20ga bug bite!
« on: April 10, 2019, 04:19:02 PM »
I blame all of you and this forum! My 12ga is great! It's almost kilt every gobbler I've pointed it at. (Missed the 2nd one trying to double up in NE 2 yrs ago.)
But sitting at work reading O.G. seeing how much fun it looks to build, pattern, and carry a 20ga and I'm hooked!
Bought a youth 870 20ga new in box. Ordered a synthetic stock kit, Carlsons .555 choke, 2 boxes of Federal TSS #9, and a Breakup wrap kit. Stripped it all down, polishing the barrel and cerakoting the barrel and receiver patriot brown. Wrapping the synthetic parts in Bottomland. Season starts on Monday. Hope to have it ready by then. Will post pics of the build and pattern when completed!

I read this thread to my wife and she just rolls her eyes. Then she looked at me and said, “what, you have eight?”

And once you're done building that 20 pick-up a .410! I have one on order and can't wait to put it all together!

You can't kill a mature Tom with a 20!!!    :blob10:

I like the looks I get with my SA459.  Like I am carrying an AR, or a kid's gun.

Gun is cerakoted and I currently have the wood stock on till my synthetic shows up tomorrow.
Today was opening day. I carried the 12 since I hadn’t patterned the 20. But I did get a chance to check my pattern and poi. Didn’t circle and count #’s but I’m impressed. 20yrds
40 yrds

Nice. Not too hot at 20 and a killer at 40.  Perfect.

Got my stock and swivel cap in today. Only thing left is to wrap the stock in Bottomland when my wrap kit comes in.

Looks great so far, awesome patterns as well.  I have an 20+ year old 870 I plan on doing the same with.

Did you stay with a youth size synthetic stock or go with the full size?
