1st completed pot
« on: April 02, 2019, 09:53:56 PM »
Still learning but I completed my first pot on the lathe tonight. Will be working on the finish and then assembling.  Anxious to see how it sounds!

Looks quite nice. The wood itself looks very nice too, what kind it is?

The wood is cherry.

Thanks. I'm sure my design will change some as I go but I was pretty happy with how this came out. Haven't decided on a surface/soundboard yet but I have a few days of finish work ahead of me so I have time to think about it. Might need some direction on posting a sound file but I have no problem sharing.

Nice job

Thanks. Here's a video of me trying a few different strikers with it. the 2nd one is real bad but the others aren't terrible. Hopefully my next one is better.

I think it sounds good. No two turkeys sound alike. Similar, yes, but not identical. That call will call in birds for sure. I have heard some awful sounding turkeys and I have made some awful sounding calls. Guess what. I have used those awful sounding call and had birds respond and come to the gun.
