I did some research and sent an email,I found out from Browning the extra full turkey choke that comes with the gun is

"Briley manufactures our choke tubes. The inside diameter of the 10ga extra full tube is 0.697"

and I located this choke locally to maybe try as well,

Carlson's Long beard in either .705 or .680 constriction.

I am driving right by there tomorrow morning and may stop and buy it,I am not quite sure which constriction to get.I will be sticking with lead 4 or 5 for this gun.I am not even sure if I even need to get a new choke yet,as I am sure the Briley will do fine out to 40 yards...wink..wink......

I just got home,I ended up buying the gun.He was originally asking $800.00 Canadian for gun with 4 boxes of ammo,2 boxes of turkey shells and two of goose shells,a sling and three chokes.I got everything for $700,I tried to get it for lower but he was firm at $700.The gun is in mint shape and I fired it at his farm as well. That gun new would run me $1300 Canadian without a sling or ammo.I will post a picture here shortly.
Congrats on a nice grab!. I have a hard time believing others saying it's the hardest kicking gun they shot. It's a pump yes but weighs over 3 lbs more then 90% of 12 gauges out there. My SBE2 was downright vicious in comparison to my 10. A recoil calculator doesn't tell the whole story but see for yourself what a difference 3lbs makes
That's what I traded mine for in the early 90's was a SBE(still have it)...No comparison in the recoil department. I could shoot 3 ,3.5 inch shells one after the other and still had my fillings left in my teeth... :icon_thumright:

Stopped by and checked out the chokes,he has the .680 and the .705 in stock.I have to go back up through that way Friday,so I wanted to do a little more digging on which one to get.I am leaning towards the .680 as It is a tighter restriction but without any hands on testing I am just guessing.I see it this way,I have a .697 already and the .705 is closer than the .680 in constriction, this choke will set me back $100 after taxes.

He also has the same ammo I bought in 2010 other than It has went up from 19.99 a box to 27.99 a box for the identical shells.

After I patterned 3 20 gauges,I stepped back to 40 yards and touched off 3 shells, all # 4's,one Winchester supreme, one Remington premiere and one Federal grand slam out of the .680 choke. The Remington and Winchester were awesome, nothing left of Tommies head but the Federal was half as good,I was not overly Impressed.I then fired 1 more of the Remington and Winchester 4's at a longer yardage to see how much my patterns opened up and It was kind of interesting to see the difference and how much the pattern opened up.The gun is a solid 40 yard gun...wink..wink.I will pattern the #5's next time.

I don't see this as a every day turkey gun as I like my 12 gauge way too much but I am happy with my purchase and the recoil isn't that bad,or is it?  I would never hunt geese with a 10 gauge, ever.

Thanks for the update on the shells you shot THK. After seeing the 12 and 20 gauge grandslams do well i had high hopes for the 10 gauge loads. I might still give them a whirl just for giggles. Goose hunting with a 10 isn't bad as you would think. Heavier clothing helps, and steel shot loads recoil a bit less than full house lead turkey shells.

I am going to pattern the 5"s this weekend with extra full turkey choke it came with and the longbeard .680 I purchased and I got my barrel decals today and got them on.I wish they made a Winchester long beard xr shell for the 10 gauge or a tss shell.

I like the gun and will use it occasionally going forward,I have lots of options and this is another good one.It feels like a cannon after shouldering and shooting my 20's and even my bps 12 gauges.

I like it,It is catchy and I can't say It is original as I read it on here awhile ago but I find it fits the gun accordingly.
