Apex TSS in a 2 3/4 shell
« on: March 15, 2019, 12:45:13 PM »
This question may have already been asked, dunno. I searched but did not find an answer.
If any of you fellow  hunters that use a 20 gage with 2 3/4  inch chamber have tried the Apex tss cartridge load for that size chamber, I would appreciate hearing about  how they preformed for you. Thanks.

I shot the 2 3/4” Apex LT-20 1 3/8oz. #9”s out of my SA-20 w/Carlson’s .575. It did about 200/160 @40 yards. I got the Hot Rod load recipe from Tommy and I'm loading my own now. I also have 1 7/16 oz. (Big 20) and a 1 5/8oz. (Lil Zip) loads that are 2 ¾”. With TSS you don't need 3”. If I didn't load my own and I only had a 2 ¾” chamber I would definitely be shooting the Apex LT-20‘s.

That's really a smoking  pattern with that load.

That was a little conservative. I just looked at some patterns I saved and found it is actually 205/175.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't  have hoped for more.
Have a great season. Be safe.

I also shoot a 2 3/4  1 7/8oz load of tss #9. it will do 300 in the 10@40 all day.  And it is a very easy shell to load.
Don't gobble at me...
