My choke recommendation, regardless of the gun, will always be Sumtoy. I’ve seen them perform phenomenally in so many guns, and shell combos, just don’t think you could go wrong.

I run one and went with a Carlson's Longbeard XR. Just make sure it's the correct choke for the versamax compared to other 870's. I run the same choke in my 870 turkey gun and it's threaded differently. Planned on saving a few bucks and swapping the choke out to whichever gun Inwas using, but that didnt work. I paired both my guns and chokes with Winchester Longbeard XRs in #6 and they shoot lights out as far out as I'd ever need to kill a bird.

Is the Carlson's tube ported or not ported? Does that really matter?

Also, what about a JEB's tube? Seems like a lot of money but is it worth the money?

All mentioned above are great, the Remingtons do like the primos jellyheads as a rule too

I shoot the Carlson’s longbeard XR as well. Ported. With longbeard XR #5s. I typically kill em under 20 yards but have poked them at 60 with that set up. Patterned out to 70. Great fun/choke/ammo combo.

Thanks for all the feed back. I've decided to purchase the Jeb's but I might purchase the Carlson's as well just to see what it'll do.
Thanks
