Nail turkey call

I'm in the process of trying to make my own nail turkey call like those shown on YouTube and can't seem to find a piece of slate that give me realistic sounds. If any of my fellow turkey hunters has successfully made their own nail turkey call, I'd like to know how you did it. Thanks.

I have a nail call that I bought a couple of years ago, actually 2 of them.  They both came with a piece of smooth unfinished tile about 3 inches long x 2 inches wide and maybe 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick.
