Start dates/Spring plans
« on: February 09, 2019, 08:54:43 AM »
Welcome back everyone.  Lets kick this thing off with hearing when everyone is planning on their first day in the woods.  Where's everyone hunting this year?

It's going to be a busy spring on my end.  Whitelightning and I will kick things off on March 5th in South Florida.  Hard to believe its only 24 days away.  We're doing a western leg in April - starting in Oklahoma and seeing where we end up, New Mexico and Kansas are big contenders.  When we get back - hunt local until our seasons are out here and then I'm going north to visit my uncle and hunt New Hampshire and Maine at the bare minimum.  Should be a blast.  Let's hear it!

A friend of my wife has a nice farm in VA. Lots of big fields, not a ton of woods but it holds birds. I am headed down there for opening weekend (13, 14 April) to avenge last year's defeat. Leaving there at noon Sunday to head to the in-laws farm in WV to hunt the first 2 or 3 days there. Then back home for the MD opener on 18 Apr. Then stuff gets stupid at work so will need to stay close to home. Hoping to get a chance to beat Derek to NH and hunt the opening weekend there with my brother but those plans are iffy.

I'm heading west to hunt elk this fall so I have to trim back a little in the spring.  Going to stay local with WV, MD and PA.  Possibility of taking a Maine road trip for a few days towards the end of May but not 100% on that yet.

I’m forced to skip through our swamps here at home, though I’m making every preparation I can to hit Kansas again.

As always I will be in Missouri for the opened, then back to PA, Ohio and Ny.  I am one heck of a lot more mobile now, Hunted most of last spring after having a new knee done on April 30th.  No cane this year...

Lefty  Where ya headed elk hunting ?? Gun or Bow  and are you going the DIY route ??  Been hunting elk in Idaho since 1983.
Don't gobble at me...

Season opened here in SC last Wed.  First time in 10+ yrs that I didn't kill a bird on the first two days of the season. It's been tough. Birds aren't talking. Finding hens alone. It's been frustrating. Still a ways to go.  Want be going and traveling this year.  Just too busy.
