I decided to paint the base and the reflex sight to blend it in with camo on gun.A few pictures of pre paint, and after first coat when it is still wet.I let it sit until tomorrow evening and see what It looks like then and touch it up as I go.

I figured I would check it before work, and the base is done and dry,I added some paint to sight in the spots where I didn't paint it last night. It will be dry when I get home tonight at 11 and I will get them back on gun and hopefully get out sometime this weekend or soon to fire some lead.

I put the base and reflex sight back on last night after work,I was hoping to get out and fire a few rounds but it is -23 and 43 mph wind today. So I am heading shopping and may pick up a new sling for it.

That is a 25 dollar chinese reflex sight,I am not sure the name as I have 5 of them with two different names on them.I am impressed with them, they hold up well to 3.5" 12 gauge Winchester longbeard # 5's.I shot both my toms last year with one on my browning bps 12 gauge with the 3.5" lb #5's.I bought mine from amazon.ca.

I believe I am heading out in the am to fire some shells through the new gun.I plan on getting the sight dialed in with 7.5"s and then firing a few tss and hevi, along with lb #6's to see what patterns the best at 40 yards. If I am happy with the hevi and lb at 40 yards I am not sure I will buy more tss as I have enough of the lb and hevi to do what I need.

I just got home from firing a few rounds and the gun is excellent and very happy with it,I took reflex sight off after 1 round as the sun was out and I could barely see the circle, that was enough to turn me off and put me back to fiber optic sights,I fired 2 7.5 at 20 yards and poi was excellent, then fired 1-long beard 6 at 40 yards,1-hevi shot 6 at 40 yards and 1-Federal tss 7 at 40 yards.I was not happy with any of the pellet counts at 40 yards.I had 7 in the neck and head at 40 with the long beard,12 with the hevi 6 and 18 with the tss.I may start checking out other chokes to try out.I thought it would be a lot better with all 3 shells. It may be a few things but was a little disappointed with the "count" and I am not a numbers man and just figured I would have more in the bird than I did....time to test another choke.

I tried my SXP yesterday. It shoots very good with tss #9's and a Carlson's .585 extended choke. Very even pattern at 40 yards. You will want the reflex sight at 25 yards.

I don't need or want the reflex sight on the gun, never needed them before and don't need them now,I prefer fiber optic sights and i am not able to shoot 9's.The federal tss didn't wow me,not to mention one of the 5 shells was half full, obviously messed up at the plant and not put together correctly.I ordered two more boxes.I plan on buying a different choke to try.Optics are very much overrated on a shotgun from my perspective,I have shot fiber optics and a few years ago tried reflex...i am  not sold..they are ok,good for low light but are useless in the middle of the day and I just don't need them to kill birds.Personal preference.

I am planning on making a trip to bass pro either next weekend or the one after it and am leaning towards the Indian creek black diamond in .555 if it is there,If not I will see what they have in a similar constriction.I t may not have been just the choke today but I wanted to try another one out anyway.I am not sure when I will get back out to patterning, our season does not open for two months and 3 days yet.
