Neverroosting, Im kinda like you on that one I think that's the first post I have read bad mouthing Mr. Lonnie himself.

I don't have a dog in this fight, because I am not on either list, but I am on John Dangerfield's list and was told it would be a couple of years. I know he was at Unicoi selling calls, but it doesn't matter to me. The way I see it, he spent the money for a room, table and travel expenses and selling calls helps him to recover those costs.

Why would a callmaker buy a table and go to a show and NOT sell calls just because he has a "list"?

I was at Lonnie Mabry's house a couple days ago and we were talking about this very thing and he stated that having a list was the exact reason that he would not ship calls. If he had a list, then he wouldn't ever be caught up. We agreed that he could go to Unicoi or other shows and sell his whole inventory in no time, but then he wouldn't have any calls to sell to everyone that stops by his house to visit, like me.

I never called either man a scam artist I said "they handle business like a scam artist". I also never claimed to be the bigger man or taking the high road. I'm pissed and gonna say what I think about it whether you like it or agree with it. There were lies told and ZERO communication from either of them and that's bad business End of story.

I just wish the call maker would have been up front with me.  I haven't even been given a timeline.  A simple, "you can show up at Unicoi or Nashville and get one of my calls right away" would have sufficed.  I just assumed if there was a call in his inventory that fit my request, I'd get it before it was held for a show.  That was a bad assumption on my part.

Well, at least a lot of makers don't get money up front. You pay when the call is ready. I paid Steve Reeves for a call and waited over a year, never got the call. I finally called him and got my money back. It's one thing to not get a call, but it's worse when you pay and never get the call. Just my two cents......

Getting back to the OP's intended subject, found a few goodies myself.
Fulkerson Hen box, snakewood over black-lined persimmon.  Also picked up a Fulkerson one sider, ironwood over teak.  Matt's one sider will DEFINITELY be in my vest this spring.  Incredible sounding box.  A SWEET Hudson hen box, snakewood over maple with pre ban elephant ivory Dimond inlay and some cool checkering work. A Watkins fiddle, mineral poplar and walnut. Couple of Lamar Williams. Short black walnut over yellow poplar and a cedar over poplar paddle. A Steve Mann paddle butternut and Cedar. A John Dangerfield Amboyna burl trumpet with pre ban elephant ivory mouthpiece accented with musk ox boss. Four Buice horns. A pair of verte, a Gabon ebony and another Osage that I intend to give as a gift to a great friend and fellow turkey hunter.  And a few custom leather cases etc. Another great show.

Congrats on some mighty fine callers! I hope to be at Unicoi next year!

You're going to need armed security for that haul!!

Lots of amazing calls there today. money goes fast there, could quickly get into the thousands if you don't watch.   I picked up the following-

TJ Johnson Fiddle Box - Padauk over Butternut
Matt Fulkerson hen box, Jatoba over Teak
Strawser- Purple Slate in Chestnut laminated pot
schaffer - ceramic in walnut pot.  The walnut actually has a gray/purple color and looks more like mahoe.  Schaffer had some really good pots, if I didn't already have a bunch of his I would've picked up quite a few from him.

I regret not picking up a box from Irving Whitt.  He had some great sounding great looking boxes there.  Works of art really.

There was some little kid there that was great at playing box calls, he was just walking around the show playing various makers' boxes and the reaction at every table was the same - everyone stopped what they were doing and had a look of disbelief first and then all smiles.  No idea who he was but I'd guess he was less than 12 years old.

Pooh, if it's a better haul than last year you should have a Brinks security truck escort your calls. Lol. Impressive collection sir.
