LB XR 6's vs FED TSS 9's

I just ordered several rounds of the Fed TSS 9's. I probably have ten boxes of the Win LB XR 6's. I have shot around 5-6 turkeys with the Winchesters with no problems. Will I be that much more impressed with the Fed TSS 9's performance? I just need some justification saying so. LOL!

Probably so until you bite into one of those hard, itty-bitty 9's. From experience, I can tell you they are harder than tooth enamel.  Way harder...

Be sure to check your point of impact. Mine was several inches different at 40 yds.

I am sorry. I just realized that I posted this in the wrong forum. Move it, if need be.

Yes you will be impressed, I no longer hunt with any of my 12ga's. The 3 .5 payload of 2.25oz is not required to get a great pattern. You will love the TSS.
Don't gobble at me...

Without a doubt you will be impressed as long as your choke isn't overly tight.

Yes, there is nothing like TSS 9s hitting a bird

What chokes do you recommend trying? I have a Carlson's .575, Longbeard XR .568, Sumtoy .562-5, Trulock Fed. HW choke, Truglo SSX .550, Primos Tightwad, and several others.

I used a .570 Rob Roberts choke in my gun last year and got a good even hunting pattern at 40 yards but I did recently get a .562 Sumtoy to test out as well.  Weather hasn't been warm enough to go out and test though.

The federal tss 9's have shot well for me with a variety of chokes. Ive patterned all the chokes you listed minus the sumtoy but from what I've seen online and from my own patterning the sumtoy, longbeard xr choke, and truglo ssx should throw tighter patterns with more dense cores.  The carlson 575, fed hvywt trulock choke, and tight wad should open the patterns up a bit for a more even pattern. Just my experience so i would say any of the chokes you mentioned should work. My setup this year is the federal 9's with the longbeard xr choke which averages (280-310)/10@40yds.

My son and I both shoot hand loaded tss #9s out of 870 youth guns.  My gun shoots the best pattern with a Carlson's 575 and his best with the Primos Tightwad.  I also shot an Indian Creek and Factory Remington in mine.  Both are putting around 500 shots in a 20" circle.  I think that you will be impressed over the Winchesters.  Our two guns shoot better than my 3.5" 12 gauge with Longbeards.  They got the job done, but I can now pack a lightweight 20 gauge that doesn't kick like a mule.  I don't see any reason for the 12 coming out of the safe except for maybe as a back up gun.
