I have lots of guns but the next one I’d get would most likely be a browning bps.

If price doesn't matter than a Browning Cynergy turkey edition.  You can flip a switch to go from a long range to short range choke.  Both chokes that come with the gun work very well.  The 24" barrel Cynergy is 6-8" shorter than a pump or auto with a 24" barrel.  The Browning gold trigger is sweet.  Remember with an O/U if you ever have a miss fire just pull the trigger again....no need to pump or chamber another round.  You can choose between vented rib, ghost ring or it has a rail if want to mount an optic.  I use optics so I appreciate the rail being on the barrel.  I like the MOBU dura touch camo.  It has a good feel and grip to it.  They are expensive but they are worth it if it's in your budget.
There's one for sale on SCDUCKS forum for 1600.00 NIB

I’m actually getting the gun I want for Christmas this year. I’ve got a $1,000 budget, so I picked a Stevens m301 12 gauge. Gonna put a sling on it, a Kicks gobbling thunder .660, and either a scope or good fiber optic sights. Gonna paint it.

I came in way under budget and have a fun project ahead!  O0
I bought the 20 to do the same thing. It's kinda been on the back burner, other than buying a choke for it. I'm curious to see what you might have figured out for a scope mount. Do share if you've got any ideas so far.

Benelli m2 20 guage turkey performance edition. If money wasn’t a factor that’s what it would be.

Santa hasn’t brought me the gun yet, and I haven’t seen it but.... my dad is a machinist and I intend to have him work on it so I can put a rail on it. If that’s not easy, then I know he can put on some adjustable FO sights. Honestly, I think I’d rather have the sights but I’ve not made up my mind.

Lots of guns especially if they’re turkey marketed come w holes for rails already drilled n tapped or else iron sights installed. Drilling n tapping is real easy especially in his line of work.
Merry Christmas boys

I'd be curious to see what the wall thickness is on a 12 versus this 20 I've got. First let me say I'm not a machinist, but it seems kinda thin for tapping. Mine measures just a little over .200. I'm thinking I'll have to attach a rail some other way.

You may be right! Pending Santa actually brings me the gun, I’ll check with Pops and see what he says! May have to come up with something different!

Well, Santa brought it. Also got a Kicks GT .660 to go with it. Let the good times begin.
