Chestnut and Paduak Slates
« on: June 16, 2018, 09:25:36 AM »
I’ve been wanting to make an American Chestnut slate ever since I started making calls. I finally got my hands on some and am super pleased with how they turned out.

The paduak turned out to my liking as well. Very pretty wood that makes for great sounding pot calls.

Let me know what you think and thanks for looking!

Man, I love this site. I really appreciate the positive feedback. It really fuels the passion behind making calls!

The wife and kids will be out of town next week so I’ll be turning calls like a wild man. I’m going to make a big batch of chestnut and sassafras slates and will be trying a sassafras ceramic as well. I have some crystal I’ll start experimenting with as soon as I can stop playing with slate...

Nice ones. That chestnut is a great looking call, is it some antique lumber? I know around here the only place you ever see it is on old barn boxing and the boards are sometimes 2ft. or more wide.
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:30-31

Wow, I went from the Chestnut slate over glass as being the best sound to the Chestnut slate over slate the best then I listened to the Paduak which just nailed it. Great job. Thank you for sharing these videos they have helped me learn so much about pots and pot calling,
