My MD's 2018 season
« on: May 31, 2018, 10:04:40 PM »
Season has come to a close and was a REAL GOOD year for us.   My immediate family had 6 guns this year with 9 birds (all longbeards) riding home in the truck.    Son In Law #2 took his first bird ever a MONSTER triple beard, S I L #1 limited out(2) after 2 weeks and his daughter took a nice longbeard too.    Jr got his 2 with his first multibeard and guided his SIS on a real nice longbeard late in the season.    My year was EXCEPTIONAL with my first multi, a 4 bearded  1-3/8" spurred beast then another gobbler on the last week.    Our gobbling was CRAZY GOOD even on the last week and my calling leaves alot to be desired but enough came within gun range to limit everyone out but within range and dead gobblers are 2 different things.   We usually hunt with 2 or 3 family and sometimes more so that's alot of monkeys to sneak by their beady eyes but hunting together with family is SPECIAL. I TRULY AM BLESSED!    Now it's time to get a few deer cams out and wet some fishing line before probable shoulder replacement in August.   Hope all had a great year too, can't wait until next year.

PS   We like to take alot of pix   LOL

Awesome stuff!
4 beards and nearly 1.5” spurs that’s a giant.
Congrats!

Congrats on a great season for you and your family. Like I said before, you all need your own hunting show.

Hatchet Jack Don't need to give Daughter #2 any new ideas, she is already a writer with articles in Maryland Bowhunter Society magazine and has been on a local outdoor show (OUTDOORS DELMARVA) about 4 times.   She takes 99 % of all the pics and has all our memory used up with pics.
We are just very blessed with alot of turkeys very close to home, most guys on here would limit out in a week.    We are a little slow and usually need  the hens to nest, leaves to come out and the boys to get lonely.   Daughter went out  all but 5 days of our season but most hunts are short with us going to work by 730 or 8 o'clock so we wear them down and wait for a little luck.   Hope doesn't look like we trying to brag, we like to share our experiences. Those pics with my grandkids are my favorite and she really likes the tractor pic and with a JUST A LITTLE more luck a gobbler would been laying on that hood.   The graveyard gobbler was pretty neat too he lives to strut anther day.   THANKS for all the nice comments.

Braggin' never crossed my mind. I log on to see the types of success stories and pictures you posted. The family involvement makes it 10 times better. Looks  like you are much more  blessed with family than you are turkeys. (Pictures are very professional by the way.) I enjoyed seeing them on MWC as well.

Congratulations on a great season!! This was one of the best Maryland spring turkey seasons for me and my friends. Again congratulations!!!

It’s weird but from a kill perspective it was my best season, watched 8 die, in MD but from a gobbling perspective probably the worst. Probably 70% of the days I hunted I didn’t hear a gobble. Seems like most I know who hunted Western MD had down years.
