870 turkey gun
« on: April 25, 2018, 12:07:03 PM »
New to the forum so this is my first post! I'm looking to set up a 870 20 gauge and was curious if you guys would recommend the compact or youth model? Also, what chokes have you guys had best luck with? Thanks

I have a standard size one but lots of guys like the shorter setups too.  I've found both Sumtoy and Indian Creek .562 to perform Excellent out of it. (Shooting Fed HW's and TSS)

Also, when I first built the gun, an off the shelf Primos Jellyhead was pretty impressive.

youth model (21" barrel)
.575 Carlson choke
should be good with several different shells
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

personally I'd go with the youth and the 21" barrel.  hard to suggest chokes without knowing what ammo you're wanting to use?
