Called in a strutter this AM. He came 300 yds down a  grassy road in to 50 yds. I didn't have a shot due to branches. Then he walked in to the woods and strutted back and forth for an hour. He only gobbled once. I could hear him drumming the whole time. Then he vanished like a ghost. Close but no cigar!!
Exciting. Frustrating. Closest I've been to a gobbler since I was in Idaho last season with Hayudog.
I haven't given up. Still have 10 days left in SC. Might go to Georgia and even fly out west for a rematch with those stubborn Idaho gobblers.
It's been a rough 2 seasons, but it ain't from a lack of trying.

What is it about gobblers that they love to hang up at the 50 yard mark? Drives me nuts.  That's one of the reasons I switched to hevishot a few years ago. Keep at it Rut. It will happen.

Dr Juice

Thx for the the update. It is so tough at times and that same bird may come in on a string on the very next day. Go figure.

My opener in NY is Tuesday and I will give it a shot. I hope this time that we have good weather. We had rain on a daily basis throughout the first week for two years in a row.

Best regards and good luck. I'm looking forward to reading your harvest report.
