Advice on 1187 20 barrel seal activator removal for heavy loads

Anyone know if the barrel seal activator is to be removed for heavy loads in 1187 20? The rem manual needs a lot of updates. The supermag has one and says remove for heavy 3 and 3.5 inch loads but it says nothing about the 20 gauge barrel seal activator. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
