1187 20ga Pistol Grip Stocks
« on: April 16, 2018, 04:49:45 PM »
Looking for input...I’m looking at using a 1187 to use for an upcoming 20ga dedicated turkey gun.

Does anyone know if a buttstock for a 7600, 7400, 760, or 740 would fit on the1187 20ga frame?

I’m looking for a pistol grip for this build and it doesn’t seem like there is much out there in terms of pistol grips stock.

I put a 20 gauge Remington 870 SureShot stock on my 20 gauge 11-87. It takes about 2 minutes.  A Phillips screwdriver, and a 3/4" spark plug socket is what I used to install.  I've had no problems since the new stock has been on.
Just be careful putting the nut back on the recoil spring tube. The threads are fine.

I tried the sureshot on an 870 and didn’t care for how it felt. I’ll probably try it on the 1187 and see if it’s any different. Just looking for other options.

hey WVU.  I had to change the angle of the ShurShot to make the sight plain line up properly on my 870.  Made all the difference in the world. I'm sure the 11-87 is no different.

SSWV. The Sureshot gave a bad sight angle for me as well. Did you add shims to resolve the issue?

Me too.  Thin plastic shim from some hunting product package I cut and it was just enough to raise the drop at the heel.

I’ll try to shim the sure ...if that doesn’t work then I’ll probably try the Mesa tactical Urbino with a “Lucy” adapter. It’s made for a 870 but from what I’m reading would also work on an 1187

small belt sander, rasp and file. I changed the angle and the new fit is perfect and the shotgun points exactly as it should.

Too bad they don’t make a pistol grip for the M2 20ga (or make an adapter) . If so that might change my build plan altogether

Thanks for the input. I ended up with the Mesa tactical Urbino stock with the Lucy adapter for a 20ga. Great set up!

Doing some digging and came across this thread.

Does anyone have this set up and is happy with it? Or does anyone have a better recommendation for a pistol grip on a 20ga 11-87. Do not was to go the ShurShot stock route if at all possible.
