Got my first!

I got my first trumpet today and must say I already am loving it. I had run a wingbone before and I operate this much the same. Do you guys run the trumpet in the middle of your mouth or to the corner of one side? I am having a hard time running it in the middle but find it pretty easy to run near the corner. THis is a Crawdad trumpet that I obtained in a trade, any idea what wood this is? I have no clue

Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated! I want to kill one with this in a few weeks

Congrats! Not sure about the wood? Maybe an ebony of some sort?

As far as running a trumpet (or wingbone)... it is 1000X easier for me to get the proper seal, and air control if I run it off center. Almost a 45 degree - if you think of dead center and very corner of lips and / or mouth. I'm 1/2 way to corner on right side. But that's just what is comfortable and "natural" feeling.

And I'm guessing, but I doubt this will be your last trumpet! For some reason, it never seems to work that way...lol.

Play soft and with loose relaxed lips. I can play in center of mouth and off to the side. Off to the side feels better to me   Try to do soft tree yelps and clucks to learn it’s easy to add volume later on

Congrats. Mr. Glover makes a great trumpet.
I call in the dead center of my mouth but everyone is different.

I'm no pro, but I try to call softly.  As said before you can add volume.  One other thing that I have learned is to practice outside and with gloves on.  The sound outside is different (louder) than you think it will be.

Nice first trumpet, Robert makes a good one. I run mine right down the center, but that's just me. I would find what works best for you.
