Winky Hicks Push Pin Question
« on: April 04, 2018, 03:50:44 PM »
To those of you who use Winky Hicks Push Pin calls, I have a question. I bought one second hand without any instructions. It's got two sets of rubber bands and pegs, one large and one small. I can see how the larger rubber band works, but I'm wondering how the second smaller rubber band works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike,

It’s a much smaller rubber band on a peg in a different location on the call than the larger rubber band and its peg, so it doesn’t seem like it’s just a spare.

Mike,

Got your PM. Yes, it is just hanging there, but it’s a much smaller rubber band. I’ll give Winky a call unless someone else chimes in with an explanation. Thanks.

I think it is a spare the small  one gives it more pressure, like some that have a wire you move up or down for more or less pressure

I found the chalk he sent me with the call & guess what extra rubber bands too in the little zip lock. All same size. Put a new one on & this thing sings. Mike

Guys,

I called Winky Hicks today and he walked me through it with my call. The larger rubber band directly under the push rod goes around the long end of the rod - it just pulls the rod back after you push on it.

The smaller rubber band further away from the push rod hooks to the nail in the side of the sound board. That rubber band is what determines the tension of the soundboard against the striker underneath.

The call sounds great once I got it adjusted properly.

Hope that makes sense. Winky was great to talk to, very helpful, and I'm glad I called him.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to this topic.

Good luck this season!

I believe the size is 16. They should be the same size. You can buy a whole pack of them at Staples or office supply store. I just bought a bag for my two. I can check the bag later. Winky told me the ones to get.

Just read this Thread. I have a Sweet Wild Hen from 1996 and signed by Winky. Going to take it out at least once this Spring.
