Hunted yesterday at my lease in west Georgia and at daybreak the birds were hammering! I chased this old joker for 3 hours and 3 setups and with hens the whole time and he did not want to commit. I finally setup at the top of hill on our planted gasline where I thought they would eventually come out to feed. I was sitting over a blind hill and made a couple of calls with the new trumpet and heard the bird gobble and the hens answering me. I made another call a little bit later and heard a couple of different gobblers.
A couple of minutes later, I saw the fan coming over the hill and as soon as his head cleared the rise, I killed him. Stood up and walked out and 4 other longbeards were skedaddling. Guess I should of waited a minute or two more. Long spurs and thick beard.
Here is the bird and the gasline view.
