Penn’s Woods
« on: March 26, 2018, 03:43:08 PM »
Hey guys,

Have any of you seen one of these trumpet calls? I was talking to my dad about trumpets the other day and he said, “I think I have and old one somewhere”.  He sent me what looks to me a Penn’s Woods Tom Turpin Yelper

Yep, got one just like it. Actually a pretty darn good yelper.

Yep, I have one as well.  Had it a long time.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

I have one of those calls. Can't remember when I got it. It has been a while.
It is a nice playing call.

I have one also,  my best guess is that mine is some 30+ years old.  After a little practice, I killed a tom with it also 30 years ago.  Still have it somewhere in my collection of calls. If not already, it holds some collection value.

Called in my first spring bird with a Penn Woods Super Raspy mouth call. Wish I could get one again. Great find on your dad's call.

I called and bow killed my first 3 turkeys with a Penn Woods yelper
I believe i paid $17 - $19 for it back in 1983 or so . runs as good today as it did 35 years ago. Picked a couple more up in recent years for nostalgia reasons. All cost me more than my original... lol
