KP Snakewood Trumpet - In Progress

I bought an African Blackwood trumpet from Kenny this past spring and liked it so much I asked him to turn another one for me......I sent a Snakewood blank to him for the 2nd one and this is what was hidden inside, nice surprise !!

Thanks Chris.....I used to build acoustic guitars(guess I still do tinker in it) so I collected a lot of cool wood over the years, I only have a handful of these Snakewood blanks left and none as nice as this one.

Thanks Chris....I played the guitar(poorly) and figured I could build one myself as I was a woodworker. Did that and it turned out great, sold a few instruments, then through word of mouth I got a bunch of orders. I had a full-time corporate job so didn't have the time to manage all of that, quit building except a few for family members and that is where I am today. I did train early on with a well known luthier so that helped kick-start things for me. This whole guitar building adventure from start to today has covered approx 15 years.....And that is why I love to build turkey calls... boxes and scratchers are a blast for me as they are mini guitars in my mind. It is a challenge to voice them, figure out ways to make them sound better, that was a huge goal in guitar building.

Thanks, looking forward to getting it from Kenny....the finish on the guitar is a type of polyester.
