I don't have the harbor freight lathe but I do have the excelsior which is the same one as the $200 central machinery model. Not sure which model you have as Harbor Freight sells multiple models. The type of chuck used depends on the taper. Mine takes an MT 2 which most of the decent ones do. I use the economy chuck from psi.
