Trijicon Red Dot on Wife's Shotgun?
« on: June 18, 2017, 09:01:37 AM »
Hey Y'all,

I've been looking for a reliable red dot to put on my wife's new shotgun.

Would this sight work on a shotgun and what are y'alls thoughts?

Should worth fine.  I have been using Trigicon prouducts for several years; only problems occurred between my ears.

Hmmm...that seems cheap for a Trijicon.  Something must be wrong with it.  ;)

They have been around for a while. One big issue with the military I believe, probably will give better customer because of it.

In my opinion you don't gain anything with this sight over a fast fire 2 or 3. They all run on a battery. Burris is much cheaper. Also what kind of base do you plan on using? I was told you have to use a particular base that costs around $180. If so, that's a big drawback to me.

I have that same sight on my Rem 870 20 ga.  Works great.  No issues.

DrDirtNap--So you don't need a special base?

I'm on the fence about the FF3. I have read great reviews, but then I have seen reviews about folks who have had a lot of problems with them.

A few years ago I looked into a FF3 but the bad reviews made me look elsewhere. Many had great luck with them but I read too many that did not.

If you are going to spend that much money on the Trijicon you are very close to what I paid for my Aimpoint 9000SC. Great quality and hard to find bad reviews. Check them out.

I have mine mounted on to a regular weaver rail.   Based on what I see in the Cabela's listing you would need to buy the additional base for attachment.

Decent price puts it closer to competing with fast fire and vortex models

Nice looking sight but I was surprised at the cost and it seems like many other brands are in a similar price range. I ain't cheap but I learned to shoot with open sights. Guess I will stick with them as I still punch tags beyond 40+ yards when the occasion calls for it. Thanks for the post it is an eye opener.
