What else besides turkey hunting.......

Do you guys like to do? My 2nd favorite spring activity is catching catfish when they come up on the rocks to spawn. In the fall I'm an avid deer hunter, but I'll hunt dove, rabbits, and usually go squirrel hunting a time or two..
Here are some catfish I caught today...

KY lake caught and filleted by 8:30.
Then I stopped by Lake Barkley on the way home.

Caught and filleted and headed home by 10:30.. it was a good morning.

Really just enjoy being outdoors. Usually trout fish fairly hard February through mid April. Once turkey season starts I switch gears and the trout stops. Bust tail all summer (more so now than ever before) and try to train a squirrel dog if time permits. Squirrel hunt the early part of the year until we get closer to mid October then deer season starts pulling me away. Run it through December and might set some traps if the market is right. My oldest girl enjoys the fishing and some squirrel hunting. Going to maybe try her on deer this year but have not decided just yet. Both girls enjoy checking traps with dad but I didn't set any last year. Market was down and it just felt like wasted gas and senseless killing.

Roost, if this business gets to the point that I can take some time off, I'd like to catch up with you for a turkey/catfish trip. Gotta get hooked up with Steve first but would like to plan a trip at some point if interested.

Mostly anymore, I just concentrate on hunting.  I like to fish, but usually make the choice to hunt or scout for hunting rather than go fishing.  We have lots of game species, although most of them are allotted by drawing and the odds are pretty low of drawing a permit for just about everything.  Still, I go through the process of applying for them all every year,...deer, elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, Barbary sheep, ibex, oryx, and javelina.  Rarely draw anything but deer and javelina....
