Rainy, mid 40's
Weatherby Sa-08
HS Undertaker .575 choke
Winchester Longbeard XR 1 1/4 oz 5s
Laser verified, 40yds. Shot off a bipod dead on poi. Vent rib.
89 in the 10 :OGturkeyhead:

Ozark
Did you take anymore shots than this one with the #5? Just wondering because I’ve been testing the #6 and they fluctuate from 100-140 in the 10 at 40 yd. Wondering if you were getting any fluctuation with the #5.

I was mostly patterning 12ga when I shot this pattern. This is the only pic I can find, I'm not sure if I shot more.  I will try to get out this weekend and pattern, if I do I will post it.  Thanks for the heads up.

As far as Long Beard consistency, I've put the following on paper:

20g Weatherby SA-08
Indian Creek 0.555 choke
40 yards / 10" circle

#5's - 4 shots: 103, 129, 126, 123
#6's - 6 shots: 132, 157, 133, 142, 145, 134

Did it seem like your patterns  where better with a clean bore or slightly fouled

As far as Long Beard consistency, I've put the following on paper:

20g Weatherby SA-08
Indian Creek 0.555 choke
40 yards / 10" circle

#5's - 5 shots: 103, 129, 126, 123
#6's - 6 shots: 132, 157, 133, 142, 145, 134
Nice Titan. Is that the setup you hunt?

I ran a bore snake through the barrel prior to each shooting session and that was it. The LB #6 have not yet failed to break 100 hits in 10” at 40 with barrel conditions from clean to 10 or so shots worth of fouling.

All of those test shots were at least 10 shots after being squeaky clean, but well snaked after all the shots.  Below are links to pics of the patterns.

For the most part I do.  If a youth is using the gun, or later in the season after green up (when most my shots are 30y or less), I sometimes shoot the Federal MagShok #6.

I like the Fed Grand Slam results you've posted.  A few years ago I tried the original Fed flight control wad shell, was getting an avg of 80 pellets at 40y, w/ the IC 0.555.

Was this with #6? If I could get 80 #5 at 40 consistently that would be the ticket

Yes, #6.  The item number is FE-PFC258, but I think it was replaced by the Grand Slams w/ the Flex wad.

That is amazingly good.  I'm still looking for LB 6's locally.  Everyone seems to only carry the 5's.

Hit high on the 35 yard shot (2nd pic) but both shots broke 100 in the 10” at the most dense part of the pattern (116 for 30 yard and 101 for 35 yard).
This is fed grand slam #5.
I’d like to pattern this shell in #6, if they would make it.
