Was out coyote hunting on public land on 2/18/2017.  Had 4 to 5 thundering off about 6:30am.  This is getting exciting.

Heard them up by Victoria.  Some could have been jakes but sounded like gobblers.  It was music to my ears.

Weather was warm that day and the snow geese were flying by the thousands.

In my area here in central Illinois some flocks are starting to break up but some are still together.   During the last warm spell there was some gobbling on the roost in the morning but it has been fairly quiet since then.

Birds were hot all week, great roost gobbling and sporadic gobbling through the day, called in the hottest bird I've dealt with in Il. in a while, gobble every time I called for 250 yards straight to the gun and my buddy missed :TrainWreck1:

We did kill three between the two of us, Brown and Pike Cty.

Tough week. Birds in Shelby county would gobble on the roost and would shut up on the ground. Not even a sound once they touched ground. A lot of hens around though

3rd season opener I had great roost gobbling and killed a bird right off the bat, back at the truck there was a lone bird hammering.  Friend said poor gobbling other than roost.  Brown County
