I buy extra stakes for each decoy that way I'm not moving around or making noise finding the right size sticks and then I also always have extra in case I break or lose one.

I just stake a stick on one side by the tail feathers and one on the other side by the chest so there is some movement but not much in heavy winds no movment.

Use a hard sided, quality made decoy. An older guy gave me one years ago, and it works great.Just set it on the ground, like a breeding bird.

two sticks stuck in the ground on either side, if its real windy I'll take some fishing line with loops on both ends and thread them thru holes I've already poked in the base of the dekes and then use some tent stakes to hook the loop thru so its secured to the ground.  Sticks are easy as there always lying around and oyu don't have to take them out with you.

Sticks or branches from tress work great, have used them several times.  Just leave a little room so they can move a little.
