Fun!
« on: June 11, 2016, 04:37:21 PM »
I just entered the world of tube calls... What a fun little call! I've messed with it enough that I can cluck, yelp, kee-kee, and half-azz gobble.

I'm still a rookie at figuring out tension, gap, air pressure, etc. - but I'm really liking this little thing.

Mr. Matt McLain hooked me up with a nice one...  :icon_thumright:

Congrats I know he makes a good one.  I just haven't crossed the threshold yet!  That's a good looking piece of wood too.

Congrats, Matt makes a fine tube, bought my first one from him a few years ago and it has ridden around my neck every turkey season since...

If you're on the fence, I'd highly recommend jumping over. I never gave these little calls much thought, to be honest - but it was next on my list of "I gotta learn how to play that..." calls. I just can't get over how much versatility, volume, and turkey voice this call has - like gergg mentioned in his post...

It takes some practice, but I would rank it as the easiest to master out of the diaphragm & trumpet category.

I know there really isn't a "Genie in the bottle" call that works every time, and I also know full well I could head to the woods with a $6 mouth call and take care of business, but heck - that's no fun. Plus, I truly like the challenge of learning all types of calls.  ;D

**and Matt makes his calls for a double o-ring set - I just had 1 on in the picture since I was still messing with the tension and gap.

Here's a VERY amateur short clip after a couple of days messing with it (commute drive time... :))

I'm looking forward to mastering this little call before next spring!
