1187 Greenleaf
« on: April 14, 2016, 08:25:12 PM »
Been wanting a Greenleaf for a long time, finally found one a few months ago.It came with a Rem Super Full Turkey but I wasn't happy with it..Called IC they said a 665 would be best.

I like to try the IC655 next year just to see.

Anyway all the details are in the pics

I have a hevi choke in my 1187 green leaf and I put it to 'em. I'm not a numbers tracker but it does have a nice even distributed pattern at 40-yds. Good luck.

I know what ya mean!! The Rem choke done 140s shot after shot but it wasn't a very even pattern.

The 30 in the rem choke was really nice tho

I meant to but it got dark on me,I'll throw up a pic tomorrow if I get time.

I own two m2's and this 1187 is a fine gun for a lot less coin..It actually shoots where ya aim it haha...Got $509 in it out the door

You got a steal on that one! Congrats! I  have 2 of them, bought one when I  was in college back when they first came out and I will never get rid of her.. she has traveled many miles with me and killed many turkeys. I try and pack her several times a year just for old times sake but she has kind of took a back seat to my Benelli Steady Grip. For years I used a Rhino .660 and Nitros and she would do in the high 200's but I used mag blends after I ran out of Nitros, and this year I tried the #6 Long Beards. The LB's didn't really like the Rhino so just for the heck of it I tried them through the factory choke and got in the low 200's with a pattern that looks a lot like what you are getting. Good luck with your new gun!

Jason, that's one heck of a pattern! I've got the same gun except it was black. I bought mine in '93 or '94. I spent a small fortune on finding the right chokes (for HTL). Mine likes the IC 665 and rhino 660. The Hevishot choke was right up there too. However I was shooting Hevi-13 6's and 7's and Nitro 4x5x7's.

The 11-87's made during that era were built like tanks. I never had a problem with mine. Being heavy was the only drawback.

I haven't shot mine in a couple of years. I may have to try some longbeards.

Great find and great gun.  Mike
