Every gun is different.  Look down the page and you'll see about a million combos to try.  I'm shooting an 870 Super mag with a 28" barrel and it does real well with the Winchester Longbeards in #6 with a Truglo SSX .643 choke.  IF I wasn't so cheap, I'd shoot Hevi 7's in it an really get a high pellet count.  My buddy is shooting #5's in his 1100 with a 26" barrel, getting very good results.  Pattern pic was before I tweeked the sight a tad so POA/POI was off a little.  If I'd have just drawn a 10" circle around the densest part of the impact area, pellet count would have been better.  Good luck!

I shoot the 870 SM turkey/waterfowl with a 26" barrel I shoot a kicks gobblin thunder .665 with longbeard xr 3" 5 shot or 3.5" 6 shot both give over 190 in a 12" circle at 40 yds I will say patterns are pretty tight at 25 yds and recommend either 2 beads or a scope of some kind

I have that same gun. One of my most impressive combos is Jellyhead Max with 3" #5 Winchester HV. Also good with Federal Premium 3" #5 and factory full choke.

I have a very picky 870 with a 26" barrel. It's a 3" chamber instead of the super magnum.  But with a .670 Pure Gold running either mag blends or Hevi 6s it's putting up some good hunting patterns.

I shoot the same gun 870sm/ Ventilator .655. (26" bbl)

160's in a 10 @ 40. Win XX 3/2/6's
270's in a 10 @ 40.  Hevi 13 3/2/7's

*have a kicks .655 that I was using in another barrel and going to try the other Win lead loads. Have allot of boxes of the HV, XX, and Supreme 6's.

Try a Rob Roberts Final Strut choke maybe .655 or .650 and try Federal heavyweight #7 shot or H-13 #7 shot....thing is the heavyweight is hittin' ALOT harder at farther distances than the H-13. Good luck!!!

I had the same gun and shot Hevi-Shot #6's and #7's thru a Jellyhead .660 choke.  Those combinations threw the best 40 yard patterns that I have ever shot.   :OGturkeyhead:
