Went back to area where I took the old bird Saturday. Had one gobbling near edge of property line about 300 yards away at daylight. He must have gobbled 30-40 times on roost. Got him to answer but he headed away from me at flydown (blasted hens). Since I knew I was in a good spot I decided to hunker down and see how things would play out. I had hens come into field in one's and two's but heard no more gobbling. I guess I started drifting off as something told me to look to my right and there was a hen that had gotten within 30 yards of me down a slight hill. Looking behind her I noticed a dark shape and as I looked closer I could see his beard. I drew down and no fired, he bowled over backwards and flopped about twice. Decent 2 year old bird with 6 & 1/2 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs. April has historically been my best month and thus year is certainly following that pattern.

As long as they keep setting them up, you'll keep knocking them down. Nice job.

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
