2016 Virginia Youth Day

Youth day was good to me and my boys again this year in VA .. My youngest was supposed to shoot, but he just didn't feel comfortable and the gun was passed to my 12 year old and he got the job done.  The gun was actually off quite a bit after I shot it today.. we were lucky ..

Congrats to you all. Maybe next time the youngster will feel more comfortable (awesome thing is that at his age he didn't just shoot when he wasn't comfortable in doing so and didn't wound the bird. I know grown men who are not even that mature.)

Why did the other boy not want to shoot?

He is just a bit timid and wants to be sure he will kill it.. I guess I have been a bit over zealous ingraining in him to only take good ethical shots.. same thing happened in 2015 with him.. he just felt that he couldn't hold on the bird and didn't want to miss or wound it.. He did end up smoking a bird in 2015 later in the season.. but never got another chance last year.. hopefully in a few weeks he will get another chance to pull the trigger
