Looking for recomendations for Win SXP Turkey
« on: February 14, 2017, 11:14:59 AM »
I have two chokes for this gun, JEBs .650 and a Carlsons Heavy 13 .664.  I have shot the Win LB #6 3 1/2 with amazing patterns out to 60 yards with the JEBs but was not impressed with the killing efectiveness at that range.  I am considering LB #5s also through the JEBS.  Has anyone patterned the Carlsons .664 and if so what are your load recomendations?

Long story short has anyone used these choke/gun/constrictions and what are the results. Im talking what kind of pattern at what ranges and killing effectiveness.

I have the same gun and shoot the carlson's longbeard .665. Here is my thread from last year with the LB #6 and LB #5 out of that gun.

Also, I'm going to try to patter hevi 13 #7's out of this gun this year with the same choke and see what results I get.

Thanks! Thats what im talking about, hard data.  Im undecided between LB #5s out of the jebs .650 and Heavy Shot Mag Blend out of the Carlsons .664.  The Carlsons has those wad slowing rings which defeat the purpose of the shot lock in the LBs. Or does it?

I don't think mine has the rings in it. Mine is made specifically for the longbeard xr shells. Here's a link.

I have the winchester sxp longbeard Shotgun and stock choke with longbeard #6 is Ok but like you I am concerned about the effectiveness of the 6's. I picked up some federal heviweight 7's going yo pattern them today.

I know this thread is outdated but hopefully someone will read this and this might help.
I patterned the 3.5 LB #5 with the .650 and the .664 and the patterns at 50 yards were almost identical.
How is that possible?
I would have thought the .650 would be too tight and deform the pellets.
I see that the recommended constriction for this shell out of this gun is .680!
Im confused.
Any insight would be appreciated
