Best pattern of 4's to date
« on: March 06, 2016, 09:55:02 PM »
Shot my best pattern of 4's today with 3.5" Winchester LB out of a kicks 665 and a Benelli SBE.  156!

By comparison, I got a dismal 145 with Fed #7 (.650) and 135 Mag Blends (.655). All 3.5" shells at 40 yards. Just waiting on season now!

The Longbeard #4s pattern great, I used them last year and they put a gobbler down with no flopping. I'm trying to get away from them this year because of how tight they are up close and how inconsistent poi can be with those shells. Personally id hunt with the patterns you got from the Fed HW7s over the LB#4s. Better pellet count, better 20" overall pattern, and more forgiving up close. And I promise the bird won't know the difference those 7s hit hard.

Yeah I thought about selling the 7's  but I may just keep them. Won't get what I paid for them so whatever. You're right, I had about the same number of pellets just outside the 10 circle as in it with the 7s. It was very evenly distributed. I borrowed a choke though so I still don't have a non-ported choke.

I killed 2 in one shot last year with these 4s at 11 yards, same gun. Rifled signs came in handy. I'm surprised I didn't cut the first ones head off but it was still attached

Keep in mind that those #7s (assuming they are the Heavyweights) hit HARDER at 40 yds than lead #5s....and that number is  decent ....since the screw-up at Federal the #s have just not been back up to par where they were beforehand. But believe you-me they hit like Thors hammer!!!!! Good luck!!!!

 :OGturkeyhead: Very nice!
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

That's a awesome pattern for 4s! I picked up some 3" Longbeard 4s to try a while back and I got 120s out of my vinci with a .665 kicks.
