Saturday scratcher
« on: February 14, 2016, 10:11:40 PM »
I've bought or traded for 3 scratchers this spring, never ran one before this year.  It's been fun learning to run one and I had some free time yesterday so I took a shot a building my own.  It turned out pretty well.  Poplar and red cedar with a couple different sized red cedar strikers.  Sounds good and was a fun project to pass the time waiting for the season to arrive!

I like it but you need to know that once you start it's hard to stop. :z-guntootsmiley:

I believe that, spent most of the past 24 hours thinking about what the next ones will look and sound like!

Nice job Toby!  :icon_thumright:

Thanks.  The poplar was leftover from a blank that I used to try and make my first box call.  I got the angles cut right and did ok on the checkering but when I drilled out the middle I got too close to the checkering and have a little daylight coming through the sides of the body  :) at least I got a scratcher of the deal.
