model 37 pattern choke ?
« on: February 11, 2016, 03:05:29 PM »
So I just recently bought a new barrel for my early 1980's ithaca 37. And I was wondering, just to get me a good pattern to start with, has anyone ever patterned a model 37 w/ a 30" barrel using 3" #6's and what size chokes and brands did you use?

Not a 30" barrel, but I have used .660-.675 with good success. The tighter chokes seemed to do better with lead loads whereas the looser chokes did well with Hevi-13's....I did assume yours was a 12ga.
I'm a big fan of Ithaca, did you get your new barrel from them?

Try the Indian Creek .660 w/ 3", Hevi-13, 6's, 7's or Mag-Blends.  I get @206/6's and 250/7's in 10" at 40 yards out of a polished Model 37 Turkeyslayer 23 1/2" barrel.  With a 30" barrel your patterns should be even better.
