Bullhead bird
« on: May 13, 2015, 11:04:30 PM »
So its been a season of missed opportunities, missed shots, close calls and tough, unresponsive birds.  I've spent a lot of days and hours in my blind with my bow in the turkey woods this year and just couldn't put things together, couldn't seal the deal.  This is our last week of the season here in California and its archery only.  Time's running down and I was wondering if I'd get another opportunity at a bird.

Couple days ago I found a bird on a piece of ground I could hunt on.  I went in last night and setup my ground blind so I wouldn't have to mess with it in the morning.  Got setup around shoot time and after a couple of calling sequences, I got a bird to gobble.

It didn't take long for the bird to close the distance.  He eyed my decoys and strutted all the way in quickly.  He bumped the DSD Jake and when I had a good, clear shot I sent a Magnus Bullhead through his neck!

17lbs, 9" beard, 3/4" spurs.
