Yesterday morning was one for the books. Due to a new baby coming just 2 weeks ago, relocating to tn for my job and a host of other things I haven't been able to hunt much. I finally got a chance to get out with my 3 year old and try to locate a late season public land bird and not to my surprise we couldn't buy a gobble all morning long. Around 9 we decided to pack it in and head home but as we were getting on the interstate my son begge me to try one more spot (not that it took much to convince me). So we so a small piece of public land and got out. No sooner then we stepped foot in the woods we heard one gobble way down in a bottom so we moved about 50 yards closer and set up. A little cutting and yelping on my twisting creek box call (thanks Jeff mckamey) and this bit was absolutely fired up! About 5 minutes later I hear wings flapping and He landed at 30 yards! First time I have ever had a bird FLY to me. My little boy was so excited that he couldn't stop shaking so I think it's safe to say he's hooked! Beautiful semi bronze phased tn turkey bird!
