What's your favorite locator that you use that most hunters don't consider as being conventional?

  • Hawk call
  • Truck door slamming.
  • "Cursing" as I nail my shin on the unseen low-hanging tree-branch while trying to walk out to my spot in the dark.
Did I do that?

Dog whistle

Now that is interesting...  How well does that work for ya' as compared to other locator calls?

The one time I want to use a locator call is when I roost em', or setting up in the morning...  Owl call works in the morning, but does not seem to work in the evening as well...  The hawk call has worked out for me mid-day, but I would like to hear more about the dog whistle (I am assuming it is the high-pitched "silent" whistle)?

blank 22 round i was shooting my 22 one day right after i shot a gobbler responded i did it two more times then after that he shut up. vehicles driving down gravel roads with junk banging around in the bed. is the best locator call here were i hunt. no one will convince me otherwise. u just cant beat a vehicle driving down a gravel road. and im not joking. aint very often u get that lucky to have on come through at the right time though. theres alot of oil well workers that drive these roads all the time.

Sounds like everyone has some good ideas. A friend of mine used a coyote howler one time and had a couple gobble off in the distance one afternoon.

Funny, my nephew just told me about a buddy of his that carries a rubber mallet and when he comes to a creek bridge, he bangs it on the guard rail a couple of times.  Said it makes an odd hollow sound and has been the death of more than a couple of gobblers.

My brother's FIL used his truck horn.
