You are about to enter into a world of fun...tube calls are the most under rated hunting tool in a guys arsenal .... I have been told so many hunting success stories using tube calls from folks who have my Killer Kegs it is unreal. There are countless ways to use one, you can do everything from purr to gobble they are just that versatile. Check out my posts here on OG you can't go wrong with one, no matter the maker.....good luck and safe hunting...pappy

Can't go wrong with the two guys above, Pappy and Mmclain, I own a McLain Spalted Maple tube and it is the most versitile call I own. Yelps, purrs, clucks, kee kees, and gobbles that all sound amazing...

I got a baffled cocobolo tube from Matt McLain and I couldn't be happier. It sounds really good to me and the craftsmanship is top notch. Although I'm sure any of the tubes from other callmakers on OG would be just as nice. Just my

Question about tube calls.
I always carry one, without a doubt, but what should one sound like from someone that can really work one? I think I am using it correctly, but the key seems to be tension to get it to sound more like a turkey and not a goose.
Would this be a correct statement? I know that Kenny Morgan has a video on youtube about how he tensions a tube call, but that will only work on specific diameters of mouthpiece.
I use one made by Tom Osmer, one by cornbread, one by pappy, and I think all three have different dimensions on the mouthpiece.

Thing about a tube is that you have to be able to, very basically, make and tune a turkey call to be able to use one. Mr. Morgan's guideline is just that. It won't work exactly unless you are using the same call and material. Even then, there's variable of the curve.

It has to do with the tension on the latex and thickness of the latex. I carry three different thickness with me but 90% of the time I use the medium thickness. A tube IMO is the most versatile call, you can go from a knee knee to a gobble.
