1100 mag LB 4's
« on: March 14, 2015, 06:29:50 PM »
This is my first time to post a picture so hopefully this will work. This is with 3" LB 4's, out of an 1100 mag, 24" barrel, sumtoy 660 at 40 yds, 57deg. I feel like it could be much better. What do you think?

Ok... Well I guess it worked a little to good. You can see all the pictures in that album, which is ok, because while your in there you can see what it looked like with the 5's and tell me what you think about that as well. Thanks.

4's are weak? Really. What kinds of numbers are you throwing with 3" #4 lead?
I'm tickled pink getting mid to high 130's. I also talked to Sumtoy about one of his chokes, he said it would  be hard to do better even with one of his tubes.

I'm still going to try though.

My bad. You are correct. 93 in 10 for the 4's. I was looking at 144 in 10 for the 5's.

ok then , your 5 patterns are good . myself and others get 130-140 with the 4's also.
But remember even patterns count for hunts too. how the 15" and 20" fill in with the load.

Thanks guys. I figured the 4's were low from what I've been seeing. The 5's are ok but could be better. I'd hunt with the 5's the way they are but I need to try to figure out how to get those numbers up a little. I started with a deep cleaned barrel, and the 5's were the second shot so it should have still been fairly clean. Maybe I need to run some low brass through it to dirty the barrel up, and see if it like a dirty barrel. As of right now I'm not quiet sure what I'm gonna do. Lol. That was tater a little mountain cur. I was messing with him on squirrels, and then work got in the way. At  that age it takes a whole lot of boot leather to get one going, and I just couldn't find the time between work and family. So I talked to a few of my buddies and we found a 9 or 10 year old boy who loved dogs, and being in the woods, and gave the kid a new hunting partner. I haven't thought about tater in a while, I do know I will be hard pressed to ever see happiness like I seen that afternoon on a kid again once he found out he was getting a dog. Mom and dad was happy as well, but when the kid started in that the dog was going to sleep in his bed that night mom wasn't so happy any more. Lol. Anywho enough rambling for the night, I've got to get up fairly early and go listen for a bird. Season opens on the 28th, and I'm starting to get a little jumpy.

Ok so yesterday I shot and posted pictures
1st shot - LB 4's= 93 in a 10" circle
2nd shot was with a low brass just to dirty the barrel up a little
3rd shot - LB 5's = 144 in a 10" circle
All of this was 57 degrees
40 yards
660 SumToy
Remington 1100 mag

Today I cleaned the barrel again, but wiped with 70% rubbing alochol before shooting
1st shot - LB 5's- 119 in a 10" circle
2nd shot was with low brass
3rd shot - LB 5's- 137 in a 10" circle
4th shot - LB 6's- 140 in a 10" circle
70 degrees
40 yards
660 SumToy
Remington 1100 mag

These are all killing patterns but could be better in my opinion. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Mr.William if you think we need to choke it a little tighter just let me know, and I'll put this 660 in the mail headed your way.

Could they be better? Probably.Would I hunt with it? Everyday and twice on Sunday.I wouldnt worry about tweakin it much more if it was me.Those are real solid numbers at 40.Unless you get a lot of shots at 40 yds i'd stay as is and not risk gettin your 30 and in patterns super tight.I think we get too caught up on the holes at 40 and forget about how far we really shoot turkeys at.Just my  :z-twocents:
