Kansas Rio Jake
« on: September 26, 2014, 07:33:58 AM »
Hunting Kansas last spring I managed to take a nice 2 yr old bird earlier in the week and then passed on a number of birds throughout the week.  The last day of my hunt I started second guessing my decisions when out walked 5 jakes that I had passed on earlier.  I decided to take a jake and have him mounted in honour with the big boys in my trophy room.

I like it. I had a bird I wanted to mount like that but had too much owed to the taxi from other projects. I'll regret it later I'm sure. Nice mount!

Way to honor that bird and that hunt, every bird taken is a trophy.  This exemplifies it.  Nice mount!

I love that flying position.   :icon_thumright:
If I'm lucky enough to harvest a Merriams out west, that is the same position I'd like to have done.
Pass it on...

That is a cool story and example of why we shouldn’t care what others think about the birds we take as long as we are proud to have enjoyed the pursuit. I really like the mount too!
