Kick's GobblinThunder 20 gauge
« on: September 16, 2014, 12:27:29 PM »
I know how the Kick's GobblinThunder 10 gauge tubes work w/ Federal HW loads.  Does anyone have any experience w/ the 20 gauge .560 GT tubes (Benelli/Beretta Mobile) and Federal HW 7's.

I've used the 560 in a remington 870 with a 21" barrel with the heavyweight 7's it would  do about 100 in the 10 at 40 yards. There are several better chokes out the for the heavyweight IMO.

If you going to buy a new one, I would go ahead and buy a Sumtoy choke.  William has that load figured out from what I have seen and read.  Check out the patterning section to get an idea of what to expect.  His choke really works well in my 870.

my wife shoot the gobblin thunder .560 out of her remington 870 youth model with a 21 in barrel.

she has went 4 for 4, for the last 2yrs out to 25 paces, she shoots #6 shot, 3in shells...

good luck in your decision, russ

Odds are that the non-ported tubes will perform better than the ported with the heavy weights. I stuck a Rem SPF in my Dads 26" 870 and will shoot 120+ at 40. Sumtoy would be my next step before a ported tube.

While many folks use HTL in the GT series, Kicks warns against the use of anything but lead in his chokes.

I tried it but wasn't happy at all with my results. I shoot numerous kicks chokes in  other guns and have been a kicks supporter since the beginning. I took the gun to william at sumtoy and he wouldn't let me leave until it was good to go! That's what i would recommend if it was me

a good friend of mine had a 560 GT for his 1187 with a 26" barrel, and no matter what he tried,it wouldn't shoot nothing
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I appreciate the imput.  The "Trial and Error" evaluation of choke tubes w/ the Federal HW loads can be too pricey.
